I had an absolutely terrific time seeing all my friends and hearing their stories during our school years and since. Isn't it amazing what everyone has accomplished and been through over all these years! I'm sure you all feel that it was fantastic how we came together for this event to enjoy the day and fire-up our friendships for the rest of our lives. A measure of this was hearing how everyone was inviting each other to their homes and making other plans to extend the spirit we felt then, and certainly, regrettably missed over the years. Phil, Terry, Steve, Sam and Mike did a great job and deserve a hearty thanks for making this a special time for all of us. I wish we didn't have to wait another five years for our next one. Let's all stay connected and reach out to those who couldn't join us! Call me whenever you're in San Diego! Dan DeMarco
It was truly a pleasure seeing all of you after so many years. Many thanks to Steve, Terry & Sam for starting the reunion endeavor. Also, thanks to Phil, Dave, Mike & Sam for their participation since they are the people that brought the reunion to fruition. Patty Randazzo told us that Phil would often be up at 3:00 AM trying to locate a missing person.
And thank you to those that were able to attend the reunion. I believe all that attended had a great time. Unfortunately, it was far too short since there were so many people and just not enough hours.
I must admit that I felt very melancholy on Sunday and the feeling is still with me today. We spent an important part of our lives together and I miss the relationships of Serra, both old and recently renewed. The Cabrini guys, (grammar sch) almost one quarter of our lives were spent together.
The realization that my Serra classmates, are among the finest group of people that I've had the pleasure of meeting. A number of people discussed not waiting another five years or so before the next reunion. Perhaps we can have an impromptu get together for golf or happy hour at a local pub every few months or so. This would also give an opportunity for those that could not attend our 35th.
Anyway, thanks to all for attending and hope that our paths cross again soon.
My fellow classmates. Thanks all for attending, and those of you that could not make it, we all look foreward to future get-togethers.
I am in agreement with Rick Barker. Five years is too long.
Maybe a yearly BBQ. [suggested by my wife Cathy]
Your friend always,
I wanted to thank everyone for their contributions and hard work in making the Serra High Reunion Class of 1968 a tremendous success. I enjoyed being a member of the committee. I especially want to thank Phil Randazzo for the leadership he demonstrated in locating classmates and for his personal committment to making the reunion a success. I also want to thank both Dave Rocci and Rick Barker for their dedication in locating a great place and for the fantastic prizes that were collected. Sam Vizzini deserves much credit for his creation of identification badges and for his committment to the Class of 1968 website. I want to thank all of my fellow Serra graduates who took the time to come to the reunion. Each of you made a special contribution to the overall success of the event. I wish I could have spent more time in talking to each of you. The evening went by to fast. Good luck to everyone and I am looking forward to seeing everyone in 5 years.
Thanks Phil. You are a class act. Give Patti my best regards for
supporting you and for giving you the freedom to work as hard as you
did. It was a labor of love.
I wanted to take time out to say THANK YOU to everyone that attended
either the Friday night cocktail party, golf or the Saturday Reunion.
I can not say enough about the fun time that Pattie and I had at the
reunion. It was such a pleasure to see all of you after all these years
and trying to catch up. I guess if I had regrets, it would be that there
was not enough time to spend with each of you.
The feed back has been very positive. Many have told me that they were
not really interested in coming after all this time but glad they did.
They said they had a great time. There was one individual that I spoke
with at the reunion that said he really did not want to come. His wife
talked him into it and he said he had a great time. He was so glad she
made him go!
I would also like to thank all of you that traveled so far to come and
see old classmates. I know it was expensive to travel and some came from
far away. On behalf of the entire class, THANK YOU!
Thanks go to Tim Philen and his wonderful talk. It was a great, funny,
serious and just what we all needed. For those who could not make this
reunion, Tim received a standing ovation. If anyone would like to read
it again, Sam has posted it on the website,
Last, I would like to thank the committee who did a terrific job and
putting this all together. Everyone had impute and ideas. Thanks go to
Mike Barela for working the front desk, Rick Barker, Mark Edwards and
Dave Rocchi. Without you guys, this would not have been possible. Thanks
also go to Terry Lyle, Steve DiBartola and Sam Vizzini. Without them,
there would have never been a reunion. I would also like to thank my
wife, Pattie that has put up with me for 32 years. That was probably the
easy part, it has been the last year and half of trying to find all of
you that has been hard.
In closing, several guys have asked about a 40 year reunion in five
years which I said, "save the date, Labor Day week end, 2008." I was
also asked about doing something once a year with families. I think this
would be great so if anyone wants to work on that, it sounds good to me.
We now have a data base of all of you that we have found. Please, Please
if you move or change your e-mail or phone, please send it to Sam or
myself or anyone on the committee and we will update the data base and
keep you posted of anything going on.
Again, thanks for a great time to everyone, stay safe and look forward
to the next time we meet.
It was a special time for all of us. I wish I didn't have to
leave at 10:30PM to get to the damned train. I slept all the way back
to San Diego! I am very glad I went! Great to see you. Maybe I can
help on the next one!
And thank YOU, again, for all you did to make this happen. I had a
really great time.
You and the guys on the committee are the ones who really deserve the thanks!! You all did a fantastic job!! This was really a fantastic reunion to say the very least. I had a great time! You are right in saying that the time passed by too quickly. The 5 and a half hours that I spent there went by in what seemed like 5 and half minutes!! I guess the most amazing thing of all though, is just how fast the last 35 years have gone!! Again, thank you for everything....my warmest regards always...Jim Aspaas, Serra class of '68 (we were the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
My wife and I just got back from a couple of days off and needed to say thanks to all of you who made this reunion happen.Thank all of you who teamed together in making this a memorable time for all of us who were fortunate to attend. I understand and appreciate the effort you put forth in bring this together, Although I was a little apprehensive in attending, I had a terrific time and truly pleasured in reminiscing with old friends. It was just too short. I just wish a life time had not pass by so quickly. Let's try to keep in touch more often. I will look forward to seeing all of you again as well as all of our classmates. Yearly BBQ and golf sounds great to me. Please if any of you are in the Las Vegas area call.
As you know I wasn't going to attend at first because of the
distance and my school having started already. But the closer
the reunion approached, the more I knew I had to go. My wife was
also helpful by telling me I'd be miserable all Labor Day weekend
if I had stayed.
I had a wonderful time. It was great to see so many friends
whom I had lost contact with. And since the reunion I've had
email conversations with several of them, with promises to get
together. Thanks for setting up the reunion and getting the word
out on how great it was. I hope this will inspire the rest of
our class to attend a 40-year reunion. I will be there.
Thanks again to you and to the rest of your crew,
My wife and I really enjoyed the class reunion. All of the work that
you put into it is very much appreciated.
Thanks for taking the lead and making the reunion a reality. Wish I had
gotten a chance to talk with you a little more. Next time.
It was a terrific reunion. And all your hard work and that of the
committee's work was evident by how successful the reunion was!!! For
many years I had wished the St. Mary's gals could be a part of a Serra
Reunion....thanks so much for making dreams come true. I hope the
invitation also applies to us in 5 years as well. I'd love to get a
hold of more St. Mary's alumni's who I'm sure would love to come!!!! It
amazed me just how many of you guys I knew!
Kathy Gallegos Shepard
Thanks for all of your work to help bring us together for a fun reunion. You, Terry, Sam and Steve did a great job.
A real round of thanks to Steve DiBartola, Terry Lyle, and Sam Vizzini on communications and networking, to Mike Barela, Phil Randazzo, Rick Barker, Dave Rocchi, and Mark Edwards on Reunion events organizing, to Rob Fraboni, Bill Peck, and Orlando Loera for coming tremendous distances to be with us, to all the other Cavaliers and preferred others who made the occasion unforgettable.
Ya dun gud, matey....
PS: You mean your favorite teacher WASN'T Hoped Balalian? You had him cold!
Hey, guys, way to hum!
From the surprising reception of an email from Steve DiBartola last
summer asking if "I was the same Tim Philen that went to Serra" to a series of emails back and forth with Terry Lyle last fall, to the fantastic fun of rekindling friendships the night of August 30, it's been very satisfying reconnecting with everyone. Thanks to the guys who did all the late night hard work to make all of
this happen. And thanks for letting me be a part of that great evening.
And, finally, thank God for the prescient pod of military computer freaks in the seventies who paved the way for this amazing internet, through which this reunion was able to happen, and will continue to happen as we keep in touch until the next time! I encourage any and all emails to firstname.lastname@example.org, as I was only able to speak in-depth to a handful of guys that night.
My wife Sherryl also had a great time, especially visiting with Bob Trelease and the Cabrini gang. She was astounded at the instant warmth and comraderie we all felt for each other that night, given the amount of time and life experience that had passed. Our "authenticity", as she put it, was very impressive. The only puzzling question she had was "who's Ruby Tuesday?"
Fellas, if you haven't put a brief bio blurb on the Yearbook page of the website yet, please take a little time to let us all know what's gone on with you these 35 years, good, bad and ugly. It doesn't have to be a novel like mine or Grimmett's. Police blotter-style like Delmage's is just fine, too.
Until the next time, God bless you all!
Thanks again for all of the work that went into the Serra Reunion. It really was a great party.
Let me know if I can help with any future activities.
Also, if you or any of the other guys ever visit Napa, give me a call and we can visit some of the more interesting wineries in town.
